Han has been windsurfing, sailing and paddling all over the Americas. He has a master's in environmental science from Bard College. After graduation he moved to Martha's Vineyard to sail and windsurf.
He moved to St John in 1999 and lived on his 40' schooner. He worked with Arawak Expeditions for several years leading kayak tours through the Virgin Islands before starting Sail Safaris. Han incorporates his passion for sailing and his love of nature into his guided tours and sailing lessons.

He now lives on St John with his dog and leads Hobie Cat tours daily from the beach in Cruz Bay.
Niels began his sailing career in the Netherlands becoming a sailing instructor at age 15. When Niels finished his study in the Netherlands he followed his sailing passion to the caribbean. He sailed the Rolex regatta, BVI spring regatta and took first place in the Anguilla regatta. Niels spends his free time snorkeling and lobstering on the coral reefs around St John. He incorporates his knowledge and fascination with coral and tropical fish into his tours.
